Camera Recalibration

Camera Recalibration and Why It’s Important

Many of today’s vehicles incorporate crash avoidance and advanced features like adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, park assist, and rear crash prevention. Tiny and Sons ensures that vehicles safety features will still work even after an auto glass repair or replacement by working with recalibration specialists. Your vehicle will be recalibrated if necessary to make sure your advanced features work properly when you leave our lot.

Auto Driver Assist Systems, Who Has Recalibration Responsibility?

Most of these systems use a forward-facing camera mounted inside the windshield by the rear-view mirror to identify the lane markings and seeing if they are crossed. When activated typical warnings include a flashing symbol on the dashboard display or audible alert. These systems MAY require recalibration. So, when choosing an Auto Glass Replacement Shop, choose wisely. Look for the Auto Glass Safety Council logo.

Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) & Recalibration

Lane Departure Warning system is a mechanism designed to warn the driver when the vehicle begins to move out of its lane (unless a turn signal is on in that direction) on freeways and arterial roads.

A collision avoidance system, also known as a precrash system, forward collision warning system, or collision mitigation system, is an automobile safety system designed to prevent or reduce the severity of a collision by applying the brakes.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is an available cruise control system for vehicles that automatically adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead.

Rear Collision Warning, like the Forward Collision Warning, alerts the driver of potential risks from the rear of the vehicle.

When your windshield is replaced, it can affect the camera causing the ADAS technology to not work properly. Tiny and Sons will let you know whether or not your vehicle needs to be recalibrated and will either recalibrate or will inform you that it cannot recalibrate it and will instruct you to have this done immediately.
